Presque Isle Rotary News

What's your cholesterol? Are you at risk for cancer? How are your kidneys working? What about your liver enzymes - are they elevated? Is your blood sugar elevated? Discovering the answer to these and other questions related to the markers in your blood are an important part of health maintenance and may cost over $300 in a hospital lab.

As a member of the Presque Isle Rotary Club I wanted to let you know that our club is sponsoring an AMBA Blood Screening Event on Saturday, October 2, 2010, from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The event will be held at the Millcreek Township Municipal Building located at 3608 West 26th Street Erie, PA. AMBA is a Multi-Phasic Blood Analysis Program that provides a low cost blood screening opportunity to local residents. The cost of the event will be $35.00 for all tests within the AMBA Panel and a $5 donation for by the Presque Isle Rotary Club. Proceeds from this event are used to buy and distributed dictionaries to 4th and 5th grade students in Erie County.

This program focuses on preventative health maintenance and encourages people to take an active role in their own health and well being. The blood tests screen for the leading health risks in North America. Accounting for less than 5% of medical costs, yet vital in determining 70% of treatment or care, measured laboratory results are more powerful than any other information when it comes to revealing hidden health risks and helping to motivate healthy behaviors. Laboratory insights provide measurable results that help participants manage risk more effectively, in turn reducing healthcare spending and costs.

Among the tests offered are those relating to heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, anemia, and liver disease. Optional tests are Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), Thyroxine (T4), Insure Colon Rectal Home Screening Kit and Cardio CRP (high sensitivity C-Reactive Protein) test. Cardio CRP significantly improves cardiovascular risk assessment. It also helps identify patients at risk of first MI even with low-to-moderate risk lipid levels.

To register for a time, please call 1-800-234-8888 Monday thru Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
